Beam dry ice cleaning is one of the most modern and ecological methods available for maintaining and restoring various surfaces and structures. Dry ice cleaning has multiple advantageous properties, such as the absence of production waste, the lack of gases, the absence of any chemical compounds used during its production, and the fact that, unlike other secondary cleaning media, dry ice emitted during cleaning is not extinguished. Dry ice does not freeze the cleaned surface as ordinary ice does. When coming into contact with the surface, the dry ice has a temperature of –80 °C – absorbs the surface’s heat because of its low temperature, causing the dirt on the surface to become brittle and crack. Furthermore, due to the exothermal phase transition from a solid material to a gaseous one, the pressure under the surface increases, which removes the dirt from the contaminated surface.

However, in the same way as with other solutions requiring specialized operators, the use of dry ice may overall be slightly more expensive than traditional cleaning methods in the long run. Still, it is adapted to heavy maintenance work.
